Nothing betrays the human condition more than the phrase βneeding inspirationβ. It is the excuse everyone delivers with sincerity β and everyone else hears for what it really means: you give fuck all about the thing, you have problems, and you're avoiding them.
'Needing inspiration' is like asking the universe to assume parental custody over your free will. You expect inspiration to arrive out of nowhere by sheer chance, on a platter, just for you. And you want to feel the inspiration deeply, so it motivates you, and propels you forward β comfortably coasting along life rails β towards your god-ordained destiny.
And despite putting in zero effort, you deserve the inspiration because the universe needs you to save it! Who better to change the fate of the universe, than an expert on procrastination? What better candidate to reward with divine inspiration and a truly purposeful quest to give meaning to their life β than someone idling on the couch? You β chronically primed for action and ready for duty β except for your own sake.
Of course, you know the strategy for getting started β gamification. Do you think the universe doles out experience points and unlocks achievements every time you complete a quest? Of course, getting out of your own little Skinner box is the only quest available on your little tutorial island β and you're already looking for cheat codes.
No matter β I'm sure the devs of the universe will release tutorial DLC soon, with alternative quests and new lore for those who don't complete the basic quests of life. You can wait for the update β 'real life' is still in early access anyway, right?
